Hope you’re enjoying the crisp autumn air and *ALL* the pumpkin spice!
It’s an absolutely breathtaking time of year, so don’t forget to stop all the hectic hustling you do and give yourself a chance to just be present and enjoy this wonderful time of year! We know you work SO HARD as a pre-PA getting patient care hours, shadowing physician assistants, studying for the GRE and your pre-requisite courses for PA school.
I got asked the other day how I kept myself motivated and positive during the entire process of becoming a physician assistant….and it really made me think.
A PA student was really struggling with motivation and was looking for some answers on how to reset herself and gain back that passion and desire for becoming a PA.
She felt worn out…tired….and totally drained with all the overwhelming responsibilities and projects she needed to get done. Her excitement was waning and she didn’t want to lose that essential aspect of her journey but she just felt SO.BURNT. OUT.
If you’re on the struggle bus and losing motivation….let me just say- WE HEAR YOU!
ANYONE who has been through PA school can tell you we ALL had moments of low morale and loss of motivation.
You are not alone.
Becoming a PA is the long game…and it’s natural for your excitement and motivation to wax and wane.
Some days we have so much on our plate and it feels like we will never get out from all the responsibilities we have….while other days we feel invincible.
When I’m feeling like my tank is empty I *make* time to go and fill it back up!
Everyone recharges differently and you need to figure out what works for you! Katie and I like to sweat it out and spend time in nature away from all the hustle and bustle. Camping under the stars without a cell phone signal or wi-fi connection is our way of centering ourselves and re-energizing.
Maybe for you it’s time with family….or cuddling your dog…or a girls (or boys) night out!
When you’re feeling burnt out from the overwhelm of being a pre-PA you need to step away for an hour or two (or maybe even longer) and do something that fills you with joy!
Sometimes, time away from our responsibilities helps bring clarity and allows us to refocus on our goals.
What do you do to recharge?
