Do you remember having to memorize and recite passages from various “classic” books in high school english class?
I remember having to get up in the front of the room wearing a toga (ie. bed sheet)… mine had small blue flowers while everyone else went with plain white…reciting a 30 line passage from Julius Caesar.
All I remember about the passage is that it was a monologue by Cassius who, for some reason, was my favorite character in the book.
The good news is, nobody in PA school is going to require you to dress up like a Roman and speak in front of your peers…but the ability to memorize a few lines does come in handy during your PA interviews.
Let me explain.
Once you’re offered an interview it is time to do some research! Things just got reallll.
Go onto the school’s website and look at the curriculum, history, mission statements, and core values. Find out what makes this school unique and what they are proud of.
Make sure to memorize a few key words from their mission statement and be able to quote a line or two that is meaningful to you. Work this into your interview.
This gives the impression that you have done your research and are passionate about attending that particular school.
Take it from us…we have interviewed countless pre-PAs. There is nothing more annoying than interviewing a candidate who knows nothing about your program and only applied because they met the pre-reqs. It’s pretty easy to tell from our side of the table who has done their homework and researched our program thoroughly.
Do this for EACH and EVERY school you interview with! It will impress the faculty and also give you a good idea about which school fits your needs the best!
Way to go on landing an interview! Take this advice so you will stand out, and don’t forget to do a PA School Mock Interview before your big day so you are prepared for the questions coming your way.
