The One Thing You Should Do Before Your Virtual Interview to Ensure a Smooth Start
Though some Physician Assistant schools have transitioned back to in-person interviews, many are still holding their PA school interviews virtually.
While virtual interviewing can help decrease interview costs, avoid travel-related delays and stress, and also make it easier to fit last minute invites into your hectic weekly schedule- there are some disadvantages to interviewing virtually.
You miss a chance to tour the campus and interact with current students. You also can’t scope out the local area or explore housing options.
It’s also sometimes harder to connect to your interviewers virtually since you can’t shake their hands and look them directly in the eyes. It can also be more difficult to pick up on the vibe of the PA program and to get a feel for what the culture of their program is all about.
And of course the biggest problem of them all…you’re at risk for technology issues during interview day.
From your computer crashing, to links not working, or the dreaded internet outages, virtual interviewing has its own set of problems. One huge tip we have for you is to:
UPDATE and RESTART your computer the night BEFORE your interview!
Sounds simple, right? But we’ve all had our computer suddenly start updating in the middle of something important and you don’t want this to happen on interview day.
Sometimes updates are quick…but other times it can take a few hours (depending on when your last update was). Be on the safe side and do this the night before your virtual PA interview so you don’t have to stress and worry about a computer glitch in the middle of your panel discussion.
Don’t let a glitch in technology overshadow all the hard work you’ve done and throw you off your game.
