Have you ever started thinking about your New Year’s goals early?? We know it is weeks until Christmas, but we have already been brainstorming what milestones we want to hit this upcoming year! We are very passionate about goal setting and every year we have a wonderful brainstorming session with wine and Katie’s infamous cookies (seriously, ask her for this 5 ingredient almond butter dark chocolate chunk cookie recipe – it’s life-changing) and discuss our goals for the New Year.
One of our goals is to do something hard everyday to build resilience….and boy, have we been put to the test!
Over the past few days, we have been trying out this thing called cold water plunging.
Just like what it sounds like…you get in the most freezing cold water and submerge up to your neck for 1-3 minutes. For health benefits. So they say.
Anyway, it’s SO hard to work yourself up to even getting in the water, let alone staying in the water for that long…especially when it’s snowing outside and the water you are sitting in is less than 45 degrees F.
A lot of our friends have asked us, “How do you have the mental game to do something like this every single day??”
Our reply… build up the momentum! Then your so pumped it doesn’t seem quite as bad to get in freezing cold water! Doing this every single day is definitely making us more resilient!
Which brings us to our point: Don’t let the holidays slow down your momentum to becoming a strong PA school candidate! Hold fast to your dream of becoming a PA and demonstrate resilience to your goals, even during the holidays!
Yes, definitely enjoy your time off and being with friends and family, but ALSO be wise with your time off.
Maybe brainstorm some personal statement ideas, or create your CASPA login, or watch some virtual PA shadowing to add to CASPA.
Don’t wait until three days before your application is due to write your personal statement…you don’t have enough time to do your best work
Don’t wait until you get offered an interview before you practice your interview skills…buy that suit and practice answering questions to friends, family members, or the mirror.
Don’t wait until your one semester away from graduation before realizing your GPA needs work…study some now so you don’t have to fret later.
It’s all about using momentum to your advantage and being resilient in this process of going from pre-PA to PA student!
In fact, come join us in our PA-Cers community where we meet virtually every single week for PA Shadowing and coaching intensives!! There are lots of shadowing recordings as well, and this membership immediately makes your CASPA app more competitive, not to mention it’s SO FUN to hang out every single week together! Join the pre-PA fun here!
Keep up the great work, keep building off your momentum, and stay resilient! You’ve got this!
