If you’re applying to PA school this cycle, then balancing the demands of work, school, and CASPA might seem overwhelming, but don’t give up! In this blog post, we’ll guide you through effective time management strategies to help you apply early while still hustling to get those grades or hours.
1. Prioritize:
Time management begins with setting priorities. Identify your most critical tasks…whether it’s acing an exam, gaining PCE hours, or crafting a strong personals statement….and rank them based on urgency and importance.
2. Make a Success Plan:
Break down your days into blocks, allocating specific time slots for studying, working, exercising, or self-care. Make sure your schedule is realistic and works for YOU and YOUR life. We all have different commitments so don’t compare your plan to others…YOU do YOU!
3. Set Realistic Goals:
Set achievable short-term and long-term goals. Breaking down large tasks into smaller, manageable steps keeps you motivated and prevents feeling overwhelmed. Make sure to celebrate all you “wins” along the way- no matter how small!
4. Learn to Say No:
Pre-PA students are incredibly hardworking and passionate and often have trouble saying no. Remember, your time is limited so politely decline additional commitments that don’t align with your priorities!
5. Seek Support and Communicate:
Network with other pre-PA students, tell your friends about your goals, and find a mentor to help guide you through the PA application process. Open Communication is critical so the people in your life understand your commitments and support you on your journey.
The pre-PA journey demands strong time management skills, but with dedication and strategy, you can balance your academics, work, and PA application!
